Inquire About This WorkGlenn O'Brien photographed on the set of TV Party, New York City, c. 1979, by Bobby Grossman.
Glenn O'Brien was a central connective figure in downtown New York — a writer for Interview, an early champion of hip-hop and new wave, and the host of TV Party, the anarchic public-access program he ran from 1978. The show became a clubhouse for the scene, drawing in figures like Debbie Harry, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and David Byrne. Grossman's photograph places O'Brien in that very milieu, on the set that helped broadcast downtown culture to the rest of the city.
