About this work

David Bowie and Dee Dee Ramone photographed at the Mudd Club, New York City, in 1978 by Bobby Grossman.

The Mudd Club, opened in 1978 in TriBeCa, was the after-hours capital of downtown New York, where art, punk, and celebrity collided nightly. This frame brings together David Bowie — the era's great shape-shifter, then immersed in his Berlin-period reinvention — and Dee Dee Ramone, the Ramones' bassist and engine of their relentless songwriting. Their pairing captures the porous boundary between rock royalty and street-level punk that the club made possible.

Each print is produced from the original negative, dated and hand-signed by Bobby Grossman on the front, stamped on the verso, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by the gallery. All works are limited edition.

Vintage prints from the original period may be available upon request. Please contact the gallery for further information.
